Ten Top Sociomantic Highlights from 2015

Twenty Fifteen: our sixth year of life as a company, it’s been a big year for the Sociomantic #DreamTeam. Below are ten of our favorite moments, achievements, launches and happenings from another great year together.

The Ultimate Media Machine

No piece of content we released this year better summarizes it than this video. Created in collaboration with Berlin’s own 908 to support our presence at a run of major events—including dmexco, Shop.org, E-Commerce Paris, and EDAY—the video tells the story of Sociomantic’s offering today: a real-time, programmatic media machine to help advertisers use their data to reach the right people anywhere, at every stage of the customer journey, with dynamically personalized advertising.

Hello, Shanghai

After opening up offices in Taipei in 2014, we were thrilled to finally launch operations in Shanghai in summer of 2015—an important milestone in our rollout across the Greater China region. In fact, we were so excited about this long-anticipated launch that we even held an internal health initiative called Run to China, in which teams of Sociomantic employees competed to clock the most kilometers in a global team effort to run the distance from Berlin to China: a whopping 8,382 kilometers (about 5,208 miles). Full-Funnel Programmatic for AllSaints

This year, we are proud to have had the chance to publish case studies of best practices executed with partners like Sole Society, Zalora, L’TUR and many more. But few made us as proud as the results we were able to deliver for global fashion retailer AllSaints via an integrated full-funnel strategy for joined-up prospecting, new customer acquisition and loyalty campaigns. We’d like to think these results speak for themselves.

microbe: Our First Open-Source JavaScript Library

At Sociomantic Labs, open source is quite vital to our innovation, given that our development heavily involves the software programming language known as D. This year, we gave back by sharing our first open source JavaScript library: microbe.js. microbe is a javascript library to aid in DOM manipulation as well as facilitating events, object observation, and data binding. It uses the micro character ( µ ) that is accessible in OS X (alt-m), Windows (alt+0181) and Linix (alt gr+m or alt+230). Learn more about the library in this interview with microbe.js creators, Mouse and Nico.

The Hooligans’ Near-Perfect Season

This year, a gang of Sociomantic team members from many disciplines—analytical account and technical account managers, sales gurus, swift developers, and one aggressive supply guy—joined forces every Wednesday to play indoor football in the Urban Sports Club league against other Berlin startups. The crew did so well in the first half of the first division that they were only a single game away from a flawless streak of un-defeat. The team pushes for the rights to claim the cup, currently in the thick of the second half of the season.

Sociomantic & British Airways Win Performance Marketing Award for Best Use of Customer Insight

Winners-Large-05-best-use-customer-insightIn April, we were very honored to take home the Best Use of Customer Insight award with client British Airways at the 2015 Performance Marketing Awards (PMAs). The award acknowledged how we collaborated with British Airways to build a bespoke programmatic display solution that made it possible for this leading airline to leverage real-time booking data in personalized display advertisements, ultimately increasing cost efficiency while boosting its e-commerce sales.

AppKit Enables New In-App Marketing Suite

In September, we built on our mobile momentum by announcing the simultaneous release of two mobile advertising innovations: first, a suite of in-app advertising solutions enabled by our AppKit technology, and second, our new Stream reporting app that makes it possible for our clients to monitor their campaign results in real-time on iOS and Android devices.

Digital Marketing Heroes 2015, Warsaw

In September, digital marketing heroes from across the CEE region ascended to The View, a sky-club with a 360-degree look over the Polish capital city, to discuss the future of our dynamic industry. This second edition of #dmh2015, a conference and networking event organized by Sociomantic, brought to the stage speakers from brands like LiveRail (Facebook), Allegro, Żywiec, Brand24 and more. From great speakers to killer performances from local musicians, it was an affair to remember.

SQX Launch

In October, we launched the Supply Quality Index, a proprietary algorithm that enables Sociomantic to grade our programmatic inventory suppliers—ad exchanges and supply side platforms (SSPs)—based on real-time analyses of three measures: transparency, performance and inventory quality. Industry-wide concerns such as ad fraud, viewability and transparency motivated us to develop automated mechanisms to evaluate supply quality in order to increase campaign performance and brand safety for our advertising clients.

The Programmatic Jargon Buster

You may be a digital marketing maven, but that doesn’t necessarily make the constant onslaught of new programmatic terminology any easier to keep up with! That’s why we developed the Jargon Buster—our most-downloaded content of all time—to help smart marketers bust the jargon and get down to business. You can cruise the terms above or download your copy here.

Huge thanks to all of our amazing #DreamTeam members, partners, clients, friends and family for their collaboration and support throughout yet another fantastic year.
