FullStackJS Berlin v0.1.0

Berlin's first FullStackJS meet-up jam-packed with great content

Berlin is home to many technology startups, and has therefore become wonderfully overrun with developer meet-ups as well. From mobile to UX, almost every electronic topic is touched upon, and JavaScript is arguably one of the most popular, by far.

At Sociomantic Labs, we’ve already been active in the meet-up world with our employee-organized Berlin D Programmers meet-up, which happens every third Friday of the month, and now we’re excited to share news of our first-ever JavaScript meet-up success.

FullStackJS LogoPartnering with UK-based Web Developer Greg Benner (known for his creation of FullStackJS London and the JS Hackers Slack community), and the ultra-friendly, LA-based recruiter Leroy Kerry (formerly from cititec), we managed to bring the casual, lightning talk format from Great Britain to good ‘ol Berlin!

FullStackJS Berlin v0.1.0 PosterHeld in early December, 2015, at the magical co.up offices in Kreuzberg (only a stone’s throw away from Sociomantic HQ on Paul-Lincke-Ufer), the first event ushered in over 50 attendees, who had the chance to enjoy a variety of JavaScript-related talks, such as EyeEm‘s Tim Zadorozhniy discussing Productive Development with ReactJs, Productive Mobile‘s Marat Dulin sharing about JSCS (a JavaScript Code Style Checker), Lars Grammel from Trifacta talking about JS UI Testing, and Smbat Yeranyan and Paul Hopton showcasing what Relayr does with JavaScript.

Sociomantic employees also had a presence at the podium, with Mouse making noise about his open source JavaScript library, microbe.js, Avraam Maviridis diving into the Unknown Parts of JS, and mobile developer Viraj Tank dropping knowledge and workflow on the concept of Reactive Programming.

The next morning, the first comment left on FullStackJS Berlin’s MeetUp page was, “great meet-up, I hope there will be a second one”—and we’re happy to confirm that there will be: this Thursday, February 11th, 2016, we’ll be gathering again at 19:00 in co.up’s cozy abode to kick off the full stack JavaScript madness with snacks and drinks sponsored by Sociomantic. Check out the FullStackJS Berlin v0.2.0 event on MeetUp for more details on the confirmed speakers and their topics. See you there!
